Zalgiris needs one win for LKL title

EuroLeague stalwart Zalgiris Kaunas is marching towards another Lithuanian LKL league title after defeating Lietkabelis 59-72 on the road in Game 4 of the finals series. The victory handed Zalgiris a 3-1 lead and the club needs just one more win to lift the title.

A win at home in Game 5 on Friday will hand the Kaunas giant its 19th LKL league crown and its seventh consecutive success.

There are no signs that Zalgiris will not accomplish that wonderful feat as the club eased through Game 4 and once again looked a class above. However, it was the hosts who took early control with a solid 23-17 first quarter, before Zalgiris woke up with a 14-23 second frame that made it 37-40 through the long break.

In the second half, Zalgiris continued to control the game with a 15-24 run that killed the contest. It left the guests with a 52-64 lead through thirty minutes. In the final period, the teams seemed to shut down and a surreal 7-8 quarter was played out. It was enough to secure an easy win for Kaunas.

Lukas Lekavicius and Brock Motum dropped 16 points each in the win.

Kisistof Lavronovic also scored 16 points in the losing effort, while Mindaugas Lukauskis secured 14 points.
