Zalgiris Kaunas once again sits atop Lithuanian Basketball after claiming yet another LKL title, this time at the expense of Lietkabelis.

Victory hands EuroLeague giant Zalgiris its seventh consecutive league title and record-continuing 17th LKL overall. Once again, the club has looked simply a class above the competition. This was evidenced during a 33-3 march through the Regular Season and was emphasized in the final with a 4-1 series win.

In Game 5, Zalgiris wrapped the season with a 73-68 home win over Lietkabelis. The teams couldn’t be separated in the first quarter, with the guests keeping pace with the Kaunas club for a 15-15 score. In the second half, the gulf in teams started to show as Zalgiris drained 27 points and kept Lietkabelis at 18. It was enough for the hosts to lead 42-33 through the long break.

The momentum swung slightly to Lietkabelis in the third act, allowing the team to claw back with a 16-19 run which made it 58-52 through thirty minutes. In the final quarter, the guests continued to apply pressure on the defending champs, but ultimately fell short as Zalgiris celebrated another LKL crown.

Lukas Lekavicius paced the win with 23, while Paulius Jankunas added 16 points, and Edgaras Ulanovas 12 points.

Zygimantas Skucas and Ksistof Lavrinovic claimed 12 points apiece in the losing effort.
