Vincent Poirier lands with Baskonia

Vincent Poirier

Vincent Poirier (210 cm) is moving over to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain-Liga Endesa). Last season, Poirier was a part of Paris-Levallois (France-Pro A) where he played 40 games. The center played well in his only season with the French team. He made the French All-Star game while scoring 10.7 ppg and grabbing 7.5 rpg in 23.6 mpg. This was the highest level of basketball for Poirier so far in his five-year career. His level of play will need to continue rising in order for him to succeed in the Liga Endesa.

His new team, Baskonia, is one of the best teams in not only Spain but in all of Europe. They finished second in the Liga Endesa last season with a 23-9 record. In the playoffs, Baskonia went home after losing in the semifinals. This is the second year in a row where the team lost one round away from the finals.

Baskonia also competes in the Euroleague. They held their own on the biggest stage and finished in seventh. Poirier has never competed in the Euroleague, but only time will tell if he can hang with the best teams in Europe. No matter the outcome, this will be a great experience for the 23-year-old.
