Turkey TBL Round 12: Banvit still on top
Turkey TBL Round 12 action was in full swing last night as a dozen teams took to the hardwood to battle it out. Only one more match remains to be played out and that’s scheduled tonight. It’s between Fenerbahce Ulker Itanbul (7-4) and the currently struggling Trabzonspor Basketbol (2-9).
Banvit vs. Olin Edirne, 89-64
Banvit Basketbol Kulubu still reign supreme and are now 11-1 after defeating Olin Edirne Basketball which fell to an even 6-6 slate. Banvit jumped on their opponents in the first quarter and amassed a 25-7 lead at the end of the period. Olin Edirne made a run in the second frame, but Banvit managed to keep pace with them. Thanks to the early lead and follow through, Banvit was able to cruise to victory in the second half.
Usak vs. Galatasaray, 79-94
Third-placed Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul widened the gap between them and Usak Sportlif via their convincing win. Both teams were tied at 8-3 apiece before this contest and Galatasaray, now at 9-3, moves one game ahead of Usak (8-4). Galatasaray took advantage of a strong first half as they built a comfortable 60-36 margin at the break. The early-game lead proved to be enough as Usak’s second-half rallies were not enough for them to cut the lead to a manageable level.
Karsiyaka vs. Royal Hali, 79-64
Pinar Karsiyaka SK Izmir sent Royal Hali Gaziantep reeling with yet another loss, sending them to 2-10 so far this season. Gaziantep was flustered in the second quarter and managed to put up only eight points versus Karsiyaka’s 16. The 10-point lead at the half was enough for Karsiyaka to keep control of the game’s tempo, allowing them to go on with the victory. With the win, Karsiyaka stays hot on Galatasaray’s heels, keeping pace with them via an identical 9-3 win-loss record.

In the other three games on tap last night we saw Mersin beat Turk Telekom, 88-72, Aykon TED Kolejliler Ankara come away with close 89-87 win over Torku Selcuk Universitesi Konya and last but not the least Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul just demolish Aliaga Petkim with a 91-53 massacre.
