Shelden Williams cleared to workout with Chalon

Shelden Williams (2.06m, college: Duke) has been cleared to start working out with his new squad, Elan Chalon (France-ProA) on Tuesday. Williams suffered a torn hamstring earlier this summer and has only been able to rehab until today. Accoring to the Chalon website, they expect him to get some playing time in on Saturday in their contest with Elan Roanne.

Williams comes to Chalon with a long NBA history and is the husband of one of the best female players in the game, Candace (Parker) Williams, currently with the Los Angeles Sparks. He was drafted by Atlanta Hawks in 2006 with the fifth overall pick after a stellar high school and collegiate career at Duke. Williams spent a full season with Atlanta (2006-07) and a part of 2007-08 before being traded to the Sacramento Kings; he then played a full (2008-09) and partial season with the Kings then was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves where he finished off the 2008-09 season. He played 2009-10 with the Boston Celtics, then split time with the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks in 2010-11. His trade to the Knicks was part of the blockbuster deal that involved 13 players and three teams, including Carmelo Anthony moving East to play with the Knicks. He moved across the Hudson River at the start of the 2011 season to play for the New Jersey Nets and has his most productive season since his rookie campaign with Atlanta, averaging 6.0 rebounds and 4.6 points per game over 58 games, playing 22.0 minutes per game.

Williams was picked up by Chalon on Aug. 28, 2012 and has been in France since early September learning the European way of life. He’s chronicled many of his experiences via Twitter (@SheldenWilliams) including his love for eight-hour bus rides after away games, mistaking 50 pence for 50 pounds (sign on a restroom door) and his and his three-year old daughter Lailaa’s adventures in London during the 2012 Olympics where Mrs. Williams was taking care of business in The O2 Stadium while playing for Team USA.

It’s fun and no fun at the same time to see what robots and astranauts these dumb americans are. They can’t even go to toilet in continental Europe. How do they live in US to be such a plastic robots?
