Sassari, Wuerzburg Reach FIBA Europe Cup Finals

FIBA Europe Cup

The FIBA Europe Cup Finals are set with Banco di Sardegna Sassari and s.Oliver Wuerzburg completing their sweeps of their respective semifinals series.

Sassari totally crushed Hapoel Holon, 105-75 in Game 2 to advance, thanks to an impressive offense that was humming on all cylinders on Wednesday night. The team rained down 14 3-point shots to put things away and out of reach from their opponents. They also dominated the rebounding and assists categories, showing that they simply outmatched Hapoel Holon and are well-deserving of their trip to the finals.

Wuerzburg’s route was completely different as they just narrowly edged out Openjobmetis Varese 89-86 for their Game 2 win. It was a mixed-bag performance from the German club. They did have a 37-19 rebounding advantage over Varese but they committed 17 turnovers, compared to just eight by their guests. They will need to take better care of the ball if they want to defeat Sassari for the title, because Sassari will surely be able to exploit those costly turnovers and convert them into points on the offensive end.
