Regatas de Lima extends to 2-1 lead

Regatas de LimaRegatas de Lima took command of the Peruvian Liga Nacional title series by downing Real Club de Lima 77-85 in Game 3. After recording a home win in Game 2, Regata travelled to Real Club’s backyard and came away with a road win that was enough to take a 2-1 lead in the title series. The club is looking for its first title since 2003 and is now just one game away and will have the chance to wrap up the best of five series on Friday.

The visitors opened the game in better touch and outpaced Real Club de Lima in the first frame, opening a 16-20 lead after 10 minutes. The advantage was extended during the second quarter and with the halftime buzzer sounding the score was 30-36. Regatas kept on pushing and the third quarter killed the game as the away team put together a 16-24 run to lead 46-60 after 30 minutes. Heading into the final frame Real Club had to make up a 14 point deficit, but while the poured in 31 points in a high octane fourth stanza it was not enough to take victory.

Alejandro Bellatin and Antonio Lopez paced Regatas with 18 points apiece for the winners, while Dallas Hunter stood out for Real Club with 34 points.
