Nebojsa CovicSerbian club Red Star Belgrade has found a new sponsor in Telecom Serbia and will have a name change on the 1st of January 2013 to “Red Star Telecom” (Crvena zvezda Telekom). Until now, the name was “Red Star DIVA” or in Serbian “Crvena zvezda DIVA.”

The sponsorship agreement will be in effect for one year for an undisclosed amount. Red Star has had many financial problems in recent years but has cleaned most of that up and this summer and put together one of the most competitive rosters in recent years.

Interestingly enough, the biggest rival in Serbia, Partizan, is being sponsored by mt:s the mobile network of the same Telecom Serbia.

In the verbal war that was going on this summer between the two clubs Nebojsa Covic, the president of Red Star, called head coach of Partizan, Dusko Vujosevic, a “coach without roaming” pointing to the fact that Vujosevic has never really had much success outside of Serbia and that he doesn’t speak any English.Dusko Vujosevic
