Sau Paolo, Brazil – Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid downed the 2015 Liga Americas champion, Bauru, 91-79 to claim the 2015 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The reigning Turkish Airlines Euroleague champs were in regular-season form as they took down their hosts in Game 2 of the series. Bauru edged Real Madrid 91-90 in Game 1. This is the first time Real Madrid has won the Intercontinental Cup and the gold will be a welcome addition to their already stacked trophy case at home.

Sergio Llull was the game’s MVP after he compiled 21 points while also dishing out six assists. Jaycee Carroll led Real Madrid in the scoring department with his 22 points. Carroll bore the scoring load for his team in the first half of the game, notching 17 of his 22 points then. Gustavo Ayon took care of business in the paint for the Spanish club and reeled in 15 rebounds for his efforts. His assertiveness on the offensive glass allowed his team to facilitate a run late in the fourth quarter and keep the game out of Bauru’s reach.

Ricardo Fischer did his best to keep Bauru within striking distance with his game-high 26 points and six assists.
