Greek A1: Olympiacos, AEK Athens still Perfect

Greek A1 Round 4 of the 2016-17 regular season in the Greek A1 league was capped off with dominant showing by Panathinaikos Athens over GS Kymis, 92-52. The win lifted Panathinaikos to 3-1 slate and moving them up the league standings to fourth place. They are still chasing co-league leaders Olympiacos and AEK Athens, the two clubs that remain undefeated this season (4-0). AEK Athens took to the road and rolled over Aries Trikalla, 59-78. Olympiacos, had a different story to tell, the Greek powerhouse hosted Kolossos Rodou. It was a comeback win for the Olympiacos. They trailed by six after the first half, but had strong third and fourth quarters to pull out the win. Erick Green paced Olympiacos with a game-high 18 points.

Koroivos got its first notch in the win column after narrowly edging out Doxa Lefkada, 74-71. Koroivos used a huge fourth-quarter explosion (31-12) to seize the lead from Doxa Lefkada. It was an exciting comeback win for the team and the critical shift in momentum, when they needed it most, could keep them on a winning path. Ken Brown dropped a double-double performance to lead Koroivos with 18 points and 11 assists.

AGOR kept a steady pace to keep control of their game against Lavrio. They took an early 20-16 lead at the end of first quarter and managed to preserve their advantage. A balanced attack by the team allowed five of their players to score in double figures. Unselfish play was the order of business for them and it was clear that their 21-12 assist advantage would pay off dividends in the end.

The game with the closest finish in the round would be between PAOK and Apollon Patras. It was a tight, back-and-forth contest in the early goings, with Apollon Patras securing a two-point lead at the end of the first half. PAOK would end up posting a valiant effort in the fourth quarter and narrowly squeaked passed their guests in the end, 84-83. PAOK won this one thanks to their free points from the charity stripe. They knocked down 28-of-35 shots from the foul line and it made the difference at the end of the day.
