Norvel Pelle signed by Openjobmetis Varese

Norvel Pelle (208 cm, Iona’13) has agreed to terms on a deal with Openjobmetis Varese (Italy-Serie A) and will be joining the team for the 2016-17 season. The 23-year-old Iona grad is coming off a 32-game stint in Asia playing for Homenetmen Beirut (Lebanon-Pepsi LBL) in 2015-16. He posted impressive numbers as he was able to average a double-double with 11.8 ppg and 12.7 rpg. Norvel was not shy on defense either. He cleaned up at the rim with 2.9 blocks per game.

In 2014-15 Pelle suited up for the Dacin Tigers (Taiwan-SBL). In 30 games the big man delivered averages of 15.3 ppg and 14.2 rpg. It will be interesting to see how his game transitions now that he will be playing hoops for a European club.
