Nicolo Melli lands with Fenerbahce Istanbul

Nicolo Melli (205 cm) agreed to terms to join Fenerbahce Istanbul (Turkey-BSL). His new team is the defending regular season champions in the BSL after a 28-2 season. They continued their dominance into the playoffs and came away with the Turkish league title. Their success also branched out into the Euroleague. The were atop the standings all season long and made it all the way to the finals against Olympiacos (Greece-A1). Fenerbahce came away with an 80-64 victory in the championship to secure the Euroleague Cup.

Now the Turkish team is looking to maintain their winning ways this offseason. They will bring in the Italian big man to bring a strong scoring and rebounding presence to the roster. Melli has the ability to bang in the paint as well as stretch out his shot from beyond the arch. Last season, he was with Brose Basket (Germany-BBL) and recorded 8.2 ppg and 4.9 rpg in a bench role in the BBL. The team also appeared in the Euroleague, where Melli saw more minutes with 28.6 mpg. The 26-year-old Italian scored 11.5 ppg while grabbing 7.4 rpg with a 43.4 percentage from three on the biggest stage. His excellent play last year in the Euroleague has to excite his new team.
