NBA: Warriors and Rockets Advance To West Finals

NBA NBA – On Tuesday night, both the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors defeated their respective opponents to advance to the Western Conference finals. The Rockets closed out their series against the Utah Jazz 4-1 with a 112-102 win in Game 5. The Warriors ended the New Orleans Pelicans’ season with a 113-104 victory in Game 5 of their series.

This showdown in the West has been something that was not only expected but highly anticipated. So far in the playoffs, the Rockets have the best offensive rating with 110.3. The Warriors aren’t too far behind (4th) with 109.1.

The boys from the Bay Area might have the assist percentage with 69.1, thanks to their unselfish style. However, the Rockets take better care of the rock with an impressive 2.1 assist-turnover ratio. In the Rockets’ Game-5 win, Paul became the first player in NBA history to score 41 points, hand out 10 assists and commit ZERO turnovers.

Make no mistake, both teams will be going at it hard on the offensive end, playing to their strengths. While the Warriors are the better defensive team, the Rockets will look to assert their dominance on the defensive glass thanks to the spirited effort from James Harden and Clint Capela.

The Rockets finished the regular season with the best record in the NBA (65-17), while the Warriors came in second in the west (58-24).

Golden State has mostly its championship-winning 2016-17 roster intact, while the Houston has thrived this season since trading for Chris Paul over the off-season. His on-court rapport with James Harden has been nothing short of stellar.  Now that’s impressive. Will that duo have enough to handle the Warriors’ multiple threats? We’re sure going to be treated to some great basketball as we watch this showdown unfold.
