Milano beats Khimki in Preseason friendly

Milano

The confetti from the FIBA World Cup may not have been completely swept away just yet, but we can see professional European teams already gearing up for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

In one such preseason friendly, Olimpia Milano defeated Khimki Moscow Region 79-78 to claim the Citta di Cagliari title.

Khimki came out roaring with some quick aggression and put up points on the board quite quickly and early. But Olimpia Milano would storm back in the second quarter, swinging the game in their favor and went to the locker rooms for the halftime break with a slim 37-36 lead.

Milano would come out of the break still on point and were able to maintain their advantage. Khimki would make their move in the fourth quarter.

This was a real nail-biter as the action was intense up to the dying seconds of the game. Milano’s defense would hold strong and it was just enough to help them get key stops towards the end and edge out Khimki for the win.

Sergio Rodriguez came into this one already in regular-season form as he dropped an impressive 25-point performance to pace the Italian club to victory.
