Michael Sweetney returns to Vaqueros

The one-month deal between Guaqueries de Margarita (Venezuela-LPB) and Michael Sweetney (203 cm, Georgetown’03) is done. He is being replaced by the team with Lonny Baxter (203 cm, Maryland’02). Sweetney will be returning to Puerto Rico’s Vaqueros de Bayamon (BSN). Sweetney had previously gotten a contract extension from Vaqueros before signing with Guaqueries. He played for them in 2012 and averaged 13.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg in 45 games.

As mentioned previously, Sweetney has been undergoing a regular battle with weight management and it has been an issue with teams in the past. If he cannot maintain a certain level of fitness, his professional basketball career may be in jeopardy. His size and girth can only be a benefit to him up to a certain point. Without a properly maintained weight, his conditioning and his overall health will be in danger.
