Johan Petro (214 cm) was widely reported to be joining Spanish ACB team Unicaja Malaga yesterday but in fact he will start next season with Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (China, CBA). The French former NBA star was close to tying up a deal with Malaga but instead opted for Guangsha in China on what is probably a better financial package. The French international center has been in the NBA since 2005 and has played for the Seattle Supersonics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets and the Atlantic Hawks. Over the years he has played hundreds of games and secured several multi-million dollar contracts.
Last season Johan Petro was playing for the Atlanta Hawks where he played 37 games and averaged 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Petro has previously played in Italy and France.
