Israel Wins FIBA U20 Euro Championships 2018

FIBA U20Israel defeated Croatia 80-66 on Sunday to capture the gold at the FIBA U20 European Championships 2018 at Chemnitz, Germany. This is a special win for Israel, being their first-ever FIBA U20 European title. They recovered after a slow start in the tournament and went on an impressive six-game winning streak en route to this accomplishment.

Yovel Zoosman led the charge for the Israeli squad, dropping a double-double performance with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. His team led from the get-go and stayed in control of the action for most of the game. Miron Ruina helped assert Israel’s dominance in the paint with a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double of his own.

Croatia struggled on the offensive end of the floor, with only two players managing to score in double digits. Mate Kalajzic led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds. Josip Barnjak added 10 points of his own.

Host nation Germany claimed the event’s bronze trophy with an 80-71 victory over France.
