FC Barcelona Opens 2018-19 With Win At ACB

 The Spanish ACB or Liga Endesa welcomed the 2018-19 regular season on September 27th. FC Barcelona Lassa tipped things off with an easy victory over Herbalife Gran Canaria 98-78. This is the first game of the league for Round 1 with two more games to be played later this evening. Unicaja Malaga will take on Valencia Basket, while MoraBanc Andorra plays host to UCAM Murcia.

Barcelona was coached to victory by Svetilav Pesic, who made sure that his team stayed aggressive and constantly attacked the basket. Ante Tomic was near-flawless from the field, making 9-of-10 shots en route to his game-high 21 points and six assists. Thomas Heurtel chimed in with a double-double performance and produced 13 points and 11 rebounds, constantly making his presence felt in the paint.

Eulis Baez led all Gran Canaria scorers with 16 points. Christopher Evans added 14 points, while Clevin Hannah scored 12.

Barcelona started the season on the right foot, but there is a long road ahead, towards their ultimate goal of raising that trophy above their heads and being crowned Liga Endesa champions.

We should get a better picture of the competitive landscape after a few more rounds and teams settle in. Once teams record at least a handful of ticks in the win column, then we will see which ones are primed to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.
