David Stern expects NBA to test for HGH next season

In a recent interview conducted by a Minnesota radio station, NBA commissioner David Stern stated that he believes the NBA will conduct testing for Human Growth Hormone (HGH) next season. The MLB (US Baseball) is set to begin in-season testing for HGH this season. The NFL’s commissioner, Robert Goodell already echoed similar sentiments and plans to do the same for US Football (gridiron).

The move is seen to strengthen the image of the NBA as it keeps abreast with the measures undertaken by other professional leagues. While it is believed that there isn’t any cause for concern that there is rampant use of HGH within the NBA, the measure for its testing has been welcomed by some veteran players. Tyson Chandler of the New York Knicks said:

“I think it’s good. They can test for everything as far as I’m concerned. There is no need for any drug in any game whether its steroids or HGH or anything that can give a player an edge.”
