Kaimarr Price Cinderella story brings him to Croatia

Kaimarr PriceKaimarr Price (203 cm, Biola College’12) started his college career at NCAA D 1 school Western Illinois and was top-rebounder there but then transferred to D2 school Biola College so he could be closer to his family. Basketball being a buyers’ market usually makes it very difficult for D2 players to land a professional basketball job overseas but Kaimarr Price beat the odds. He went to Las Vegas to participate in Pro Basketball Tryouts organized by Court Side in the form of the prestigious Euro Challenge camp. There, his intense style of play and hard work earned him many looks from the attending coaches, agents, and club representatives. One of them was Croatian Pavle Kukic who immediately appreciated Price’s game and brokered a deal with Osijecki Sokol from Croatia. Jeron Rowland, Price’s agent, says: “This is a great opportunity for Kaimarr. “All he needs is a foot in the door and I am sure that he will make a name for himself in European basketball.” The first professional club of Kaimarr Price, KK OSJECKI SOKOL OSIJEK, is a young one. It was founded in 2005 through a merger between two local clubs; Hrvatski Sokol and BC Slavonija. Together they formed Osijek 2006. In 2010 there was another name change when the present name KK OSJECKI SOKOL OSIJEK was introduced. They won the Croatian A2 championship last season and earned a spot in the A 1. Kaimarr Price is the first import player to ever play for the club.

I heard from two Finnish coaches about this camp. They said that every year there are a couple of players like this who jump from the camp in Las Vegas to a job somewhere. Nice concept.

This is Cinderella story indeed. This player signed from Division II, to Croatian Division 1. Ex Yugoslavia countries usually sign the players with an upside only. Good luck to both team and the playa.
