China – The Liaoning Flying Leopards have captured the 2018 CBA Title after defeating the Zhejiang Guansha Lions 100-88 in Game 4 of the finals. This was a fitting culmination of another great year for the Chinese CBA. These were the top-2 finishers at the end of the regular season this 2017-18. The Guansha Lions finished with an impressive 31-7 record, while the Liaoning Leopards ended just two games behind, with their 29-9 slate. This is the first league championship for the organization. Their best finishes came in the form of finals appearances in 2008, 2015, and 2016.
In the playoffs, it would be the Leopards getting the better of the Lions. They convincingly swept the finals series in four games. The Flying Leopards established themselves as the more composed team, able to assert themselves on both ends of the court.
The game itself was close at the end of the first half. In the third period was when the Leopards explode and gain a comfortable lead. They got a big game from Lester Hudson who dropped 27 points and 10 boards on the Lions.
Will they be able to parlay this special win into the beginning of a CBA dynasty? We will see come the 2018-19 season.
