Cherkasy made history in Ukrainian Basketball on Tuesday as the club celebrated its first ever domestic title. A victory of Dnipro was enough to hand the team a 3-1 series victory and its first Superleague crown, an effort that sopped Dnipro winning its second.

The 79-66 win was a comfortable home cruise for Cherkasy as the team wrapped up the title in style. A fantastic first act saw the hosts race to a 23-15 lead. A 20-11 second frame followed and Cherkasy was up 43-26 through the long break. It looked over, but Dnipro grabbed some momentum in the third act and used a 22-26 run to reduce the deficit to 65-52 through thirty minutes. However, the home team was too comfortable and controlled a 14-14 fourth quarter to start the celebrations.

Oleksandr Kobets drained 18 points to lead the success, while Shaheed Davis added 15 points. Volodymyr Koniev secured a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Stanislav Tymofeyenko topped the scoring on the night with 21 points for Dnipro. Anatoliy Shundel scored 15 points in the losing effort.
