Michael Sweetney stays with Vaqueros de Bayamon

Michael Sweetney (203 cm, Georgetown’03) has signed another contract to play for Vaqueros de Bayamon from Puerto Rico’s BSN. This will be his second season for Bayamon. In the 2012 season he averaged 13.1 ppg and 8.1 rpg in 45 games for them. Sweetney recently lost weight and the loss was one of the conditions of him being offered another contract by the team. He has been battling weight issues for most of his professional career.

In the 2011-12 season he signed with the Boston Celtics but immediately left the team in November 2011.

In 2011 Sweetney signed with Cangrejeros de Santurce, also from Puerto Rico’s BSN. In 36 games for Santurce he logged averages of 15.1 ppg and 9.1 rpg.

This well-traveled international pro has played in Uruguay, The Dominican Republic; and a few teams in the NBA such as the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and the abovementioned Boston Celtics.
