Barcelona wins 2018 Copa del Rey

Copa del Rey Gran Canaria – It was an exciting El Clasico encounter in the finals of the 2018 Copa del Rey and in the end, it would be Barcelona to prevail over perennial rivals Real Madrid 90-92. Thomas Heurtel was named the tournament MVP.

Real Madrid started the game as the aggressor and took control of the game early. They posted an impressive lead early, but Barcelona would fight back in the second quarter and the momentum they mustered would carry over after the halftime break.

As expected, Real Madrid would not go gentle into that good night and stormed back, fighting, in the fourth and final period. They played their hearts out in their comeback run, but Barcelona was able to maintain their composure and hang on for the win.

Pau Ribas led Barcelona with 21 points, while Ante Tomic added 17 of his own.

Overall, the tournament was a success. It was a good turn of events that the Copa del Rey was able to push through. The tournament was at risk of being canceled due to a threat of a player strike. In the end, it was resolved and fans were treated to some fantastic basketball.
