Anadolu Efes Istanbul wins BSL Regular Season

Anadolu Efes IstanbulThe Turkish BSL top flight has closed its Regular Season and after the final round of games Anadolu Efes Istanbul clinched the title. Of course, the season is not over in Turkey as Anadolu Efes Istanbul and the other clubs in the BSL top 8 will contest the Playoffs to crown the 2016 champion.

Efes, the winningest club in Turkish hoops history clinched the Regular Season title ahead of Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Darussafaka Dogus. The club finished with a 24-6 record, the same as Fenerbahce and the two clubs will certainly be the ones to watch in the Playoffs. Fener is of course flying in the Euroleague and will contest the Final Four this month.

Galatasaray also cannot be counted out of the title picture, after-all the club is still riding high after clinching the Eurocup title last month.

In the last round of BSL Regular Season action Anadolu Efes Istanbul destroyed Darussafaka Dogus 90-71 at home with a fine second quarter of 25-12 that all but settled the contest. Jayson Granger paced the win with 19 points, while Cedi Osman offering 15 points.

Fenerbahce also closed out its Regular Season in style with a 98-67 demolition of USAK, allowing the Istanbul giant to finish the campaign on the same 24-6 record as Anadolu. Fener streamed 53 points through an impressive first half and looked to 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 dimes from Jan Vesely to pace the winning effort.
