7Days EuroCup: Red Star Gets Back On Track With Win

7Days EuroCup Crvena Zvezda Beograd got back on their winning path in the 7Days EuroCup with a convincing win 87-57 win over Galatasaray on Tuesday night. This was a nice bounce-back game after they fell to Germani Brescia in Round 4. This win in Belgrade takes them back to the top of the Group A standings with a solid 4-1 record. Galatasaray falls to fifth place with a 2-3 slate.

The hosts got a huge game from Joe Ragland who exploded for a game-high 21 points. Galatasaray did their best to double team him but he stayed aggressive and they were forced to send him to the foul line where he went 8-for-8. Billy Baron added 16 points for the winners and Maik Zirbes chipped in 15 points. It was Baron who started things off for Red Star as he spearheaded an early run by knocking down three of his four 3-pointers in the first quarter. The huge offensive momentum Crvena Zvezda got from that gave them enough of a cushion which they slowly built upon with each passing quarter.

Crvena Zvezda has looked sharp in 2018-19 and is also currently kicking serious butt in the ABA Liga. Given their recent trajectory, they are poised to advance into the next round of the 7Days EuroCup. They will be tested in their next game as they face off against Ratiopharm Ulm.

Speaking of Ratiopharm Ulm, they also came away with a win in this round, narrowly edging out Germani Brescia 83-82. Ratiopharm has shaken off a rough start and is now in fourth place in the league with a 2-3 record. Ironically, Germani Brescia (1-4) got their lone win of the season over Red Star but have fallen to the rest of their competition.

That wraps it up for Group A for now. The rest of the games will be played out tonight.

In Group C ASVEL secured a crucial 89-68 win over Zenit Saint Petersburg. They used a strong second half to flip the game on its head and in their favor. ASVEL has managed to win in with double-digit margins in recent games, so they are one of the teams to watch out for. They are currently tied for first place in the group with Valencia Basket with 4-1 records.

Valencia continued the blowout theme that was going on in Group C as they cruised to an easy 87-66 win over Dolomiti Energia Trento.
