7Days EuroCup: Ratiopharm Ulm Stuns Red Star

7Days EuroCupThe 7Days EuroCup closed out Round 6 action on Wednesday, November 7th with a stacked slate of eight games. Group A had one of the more exciting games as Ratiopharm Ulm handed leaders Crvena Zvezda their second loss of the 2018-19 season via a 95-80 win at home. The German club has a nice story to tell as they have been on the rise in recent weeks. This key win takes them to 3-3 while Crvena Zvezda holds onto the league leadership with their 4-2 record.  Group A is a very tight competitive group, being the only one without a team sporting a 5-1 record. With the season still young, the standings could still see a shakeup in the coming rounds.

Dwayne Evans and Patrick Miller combined for 43 points to spearhead Ratiopharm Ulm’s victory. Evans actually had a double-double, adding 11 boards to his line for the night. Ratiopharm found the most success scoring in the post and they maximized their advantage there to stop Crvena Zvezda’s late fourth-quarter run. Ognjen Dobric paced Red Star with 21 points but did not get enough support on the offensive end of the floor to keep the game closer early on.

In Group B action, ALBA Berlin (5-1) downed Tofas Bursa (2-4) with a 101-106 win on the road. Rokas Giedraitis erupted for 21 points to lead five other teammates to score in double figures as the German club rode the wave of this high-scoring encounter all the way to the bank.

In Group D, both Unics Kazan and Unicaja Malaga secured wins for themselves against their respective opponents to stay on top of the group with 5-1 records. These two teams have been looking good so far this season and are dangerous competitors that are expected to advance in the next stage of the 7Days EuroCup 2018-19 season.
