The runaway leading scorer in Holland (2007-08), Roy Booker was impressive putting up numbers under some adverse conditions. He was a marked man, often double-teamed, but had many big time games, including 3 30-point performances and a season-high 40 point outburst versus Den Bosch. Booker's 23.7 points per game were a full 4-points per game higher than the next top scorer. Roy shot 39% from 3, 58% from 2 and 87% from the free throw line. He was so impressive that Kolm from Germany 1, bought out his contract and brought him to the Bundasliga, where he played the last two months of the season. And in Germany, his role was changed 180-degrees as he was asked to play the true point guard position. They asked the leading scorer in Holland to sacrifice his game, to look to pass and not to score. Booker, being a team player, obliged them. He is a combo guard (2/1) with speed, skills (perimeter shooter) and confidence. Roy began his rookie season (2006-07) with Pinar Karsiyaka, but choose to leave the team after the training camp and the first three games of the season after repeated non-payment and delays in his salary. Booker is a scorer with the ability to shoot from deep. He possesses athleticism, a quick release, very good shooting mechanics and the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. Booker, who can also push tempo in transition, is also able to work without the ball and knock down his jumper coming off of picks. Although his perimeter jumper is his strength, Booker can also score with the mid-range pull-up jumper and will attack the basket if given the opportunity. The leading scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC-NCAA Div. I) for Southeast Missouri State in his senior year (2005-06), when he averaged 22 points per contest, Booker had a career high of 33 points (vs. Austin Peay) and was named second team All-OVC. He was the #15 scorer in the NCAA that season. In his lone season at Southeast Missouri, Booker scored in double-figures in all 27 games and was the team's leading scorer in 24 of the 27 contests. He had a double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds) against Nebraska and scored 26 points in a nationally televised ESPN game against nationally ranked and then undefeated Illinois. A junior college All-American (21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists average) as a sophomore at Allen County JC in Kansas, Booker was rated as the best junior college shooting guard in the nation by prestigious Sporting News magazine. In his first game that rookie season for Pinar Karsiyaka, Booker scored 13 points in 20 minutes (along with 1 assist and 2 steals) against Fenerbahce Ulker.
