Todd Babington was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference post-season tournament and he was one of the top 3-point shooters in college basketball. Babington, a 6’5 (1,97 m) swingman, was named MVP of the recent OVC post-season tournament after his 24-point performance (including six 3-pointers) led his Austin Peay Governors to a 82-64 win over Tennessee State in the championship game. The 24-11 Governors lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Texas; Babington had 11 points in that final loss, including 3-8 from 3-point range. Having started 72 of the 132 games in his Austin Peay career, Babington’s three 3-pointers in the Governors’ final loss to Texas, set a school record for 3-point makes in a the season (102). Those 102 made 3’s ranked Todd second in the Ohio Valley, behind the 124 makes of NBA draft prospect Lester Hudson of Tennessee-Martin. Babington averaged 11,5 points per game this season, while shooting 38% from behind the arc.With 72 starts in his career, Babington also scored in double-figures in 44 Austin Peay contests. The tall swingman is known for his shooting ability, which is enhanced by a quick release and deep range. Todd has had a high scoring game of 27 in his 4-year career at Austin Peay. He’s also made 7 3-pointers in a game, twice. Aside from his shooting strength, Babington is versatile, having improved as a ballhandler and defender during his college career.
