| Donald Wilson is a strong guard/forward, who can contribute in whatever manner his coach desires. The athletic Wilson is a strong man defender and usually guards his opposition's best perimeter scoring threat. Wilson is a top shooter, who has proven that he is a consistent 3-point shooter with an excellent mid-range game. He can play point and he's a strong slasher to the basket. He's become an experienced professional with a calm demeanor and a strong basketball IQ. Athletically, he runs the floor well and plays over the rim. He's a team player. He started the 2009-10 season as one of the top players in Hungary, averaging over 20 points per game in the first two months, while shooting 75% from 2, 46% from 3 and 89% from the free throw line. His role has since changed on the team (due to a coaching and philosophy change), but he is still playing well and still shooting a strong percentage. This is his second season in the Hungary first division. After having 2 successfull seasons in Holland, Donald Wilson moved on to Hungary in 2008-09, where he experienced success, playing on two teams. He helped his second team make a turnaround, which resulted in ZTE KK making the playoffs. Wilson, who was playing point guard (instead of his usual wing position), averaged 12.3 points and 3.5 assists, while shooting 42.3% from behind the 3-point arc. The very athletic Wilson also established himself as one of the top drivers in the league. In his first full season (2007-08) with a team, Wilson established himself as one of the top guards in Holland, averaging 16.8 points, while shooting 52% from 2 and 35% from behind the 3-point arc. He has spent the summer of 2008 working out with the Los Angeles Lakers, where they have used him as both a 2 and a 1. He is a good-sized perimeter player who can get his own shot or attack the basket (he excels in the transition fast break game) or he can also run the point, using his athleticism to create shots for his teammates. A 4-year starter (he started 111 of 114 games in his college career), in the West Coast Conference for Portland University, Donald Wilson is a basketball player, who also happens to be an excellent athlete. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Wilson, is a team-player, who will do whatever his coach asks, whether it is to guard the opposition's top scorer, crash the boards, make hustle plays or score. While he has the athleticism to play over the rim (52-feet-2 inches in the triple jump in high school), Wilson can shoot it from deep (over 45% 3fg as a junior), but usually scores with his mid-range pull-up jumper. He plays hard-nosed defense, runs offensive and defensive transition well and competes hard. Can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket, finishes well. |
