| Power forward who can step out and shoot it from "deep". Has the ability & mobility to play from the perimeter as well. Transferred from the College of Charleston to Towson State in 2006 and did sit out the 2006-'07 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Had a good career for the Tigers, being their "Go-to-Guy" on the floor throughout his final season. A versatile forward with great wingspan and leaping ability that allowed him to block 1.9 shots per game as a senior in college (2009). After leading his high school team to a 61-0 record and two North Carolina state championships, Junior went to College of Charleston where he left after 2 seasons. He exploded onto the scene at Towson with a 26 point, 21 rebound performance in his debut vs Loyola. Along with NBA-great David Robinson, Junior is the only CAA player ever to grab 21 or more rebounds in multiple games in a single season. In only two seasons at Towson he pulled down 629 rebounds and blocked 129 shots while racking up 763 points. Also shot a very solid 33% from 3pt range (49-149) in those two seasons. Named to the 2009 CAA All-Tournament Team. Junior is a great athlete with an excellent basketball IQ. Has the versatility to play all three frontcourt positions. He can step out past the European 3-point line and knock down three’s or be a matchup nightmare for post players with his quickness and leaping ability inside. Also hits the offensive boards hard and does not always need the ball in his hands to be successful. Able to create his own scoring opportunities. His lateral quickness and long arms make him an excellent perimeter defender while his leaping ability allows him to deter shots in the post. Teammates are able to take chances because Hairston is there to provide weakside defensive help. Runs the floor very well and can really finish on the break. Has shown very solid passing skills and is always looking for open teammates. Has good shooting technique with a good form on his shot. Left Edirne after just 5 games due to internal issues and moved to another team within the same city with immediate effect. Measured an amazing 215 cm wingspan (!!) on July 12th, 2010 at Court Side's Pro Camp in Las Vegas. |
