A power forward with some success coming out of the NCAA ranks, has always been an interesting prospect for the European leagues. Combine that with an EU/British passport, making him a Bosman A, and Michael Tuck, the recent graduate of Loyola (Maryland), looks very interesting. The 2,01 m (6’7), 104 kg (230 lbs.) Tuck, who is a native of Toronto, Canada, played for six years in the U.S. (he spent a year at basketball powerhouse prep school Maine Central Institute before being recruited to Loyola). He has Bosman A status in Europe as he also possesses a British passport. A well rounded player, who can shoot, play inside, and play outside, Tuck averaged 11,8 points and 7,2 rebounds per game this season for the Greyhounds, while shooting 58% from 2-point range. He does a lot of the dirty work (boxing out, rebounding, setting picks and diving for loose balls), but he can also be productive when he gets his touches. Solid fundamentals, with good mobility and verticality, Tuck is a shooter (he shot 52% from 3 as a junior, 33% from behind the arc as a senior), who should blossom on the European stage. He was named All-Conference (third team) this season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, helping Loyola to a third place finish in league. Among the standout performances for Mike this past season was a 22 point, 16 rebound showing in Loyola’s 62-57 win over St. Peter’s. He had a high game of 23 points twice this season, against Siena and New Jersey Tech, respectively. Tuck possesses good hands, some athleticism, mental toughness and a strong knowledge of the game. He already participated in his native Canada’s national team program this summer and he’s looking forward to playing in Europe this coming season.
