He is the cliche coach on the floor. He has two years of experience in Europe. He was a mid-season addition to Groningen in 2007 with the understanding that he would be the starting point guard, but the team used him to motivate the previous point guard to pickup his play (despite playing well, Legans was given the role of coming off the bench and picking up the offense with his deep shooting ability). This role, while important for the team, caused Shantay's numbers to diminish, which hurt his job chances last season (he got a couple of offers, but turned them down). A heady point guard who takes pride in his assists and passing ability; Shantay is known for making his teammates better. Has a nice understanding of the game. Great floorleader with excellent court vision and basketball instincts. A very good team leader. Possesses excellent vision and creates scoring opportunities for his teammates with his penetration and pinpoint passing. Very good 3-point shooter. Left-handed player who makes excellent decisions. Has no trouble competing against taller player (he was a 3 year starter in the Pac Ten Conference and was All-WAC Conference selection). He's literally a coach on the floor, having spent time as a college coach (assistant at Fresno State the year after his graduation) and high school coach (assistant at a Santa Barbara, California high school, while awaiting a professional playing opportunity last season). But, he's still got a lot of great basketball play awaiting him!
