At 20 years of age coach Thorsten Leibenath gave him substantial minutes in the Bundesliga which Johannes immediately used to show his skills and room for potential. Certainly highlights of that season were the games againts Quakenbrück (16 pts and 4 rbs), Oldenburg (14 pts), and ALBA Berlin (11 and 6). On average the 203 cm combo forward played 10 mpg but it seems as though he excelled against the better teams in the league. That promises of many more good things to come. Johannes was discovered playing basketball for a small club in his hometown Langgöns which is close to Giessen. The traditional German club immediately took him under its wings and worked with Johannes giving him a double playing license with the first team as well as with it's cooperation partner TVLich, which played in the German second league, the ProA. Johannes is a tough matchup in the fact that he is big, mobile, can shoot, and takes it strong to the basket when necessary. He played for the national U18 team (11.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg at the Euro Championships in Belgrade in 2005) as well as the German U20 national team (8.9 ppg and 6.6 rpg during the Euro Championships in Izmir in 2006). While playing in the ProA in Germany he was chosen POY averaging 15 and 9.4 as a youngster. German, as well as international basketball, will hear the name Lischka many times over in years to come.
