Johannes, nicknamed J.J., has the potential to become THE point guard for German basketball. He is tall and muscular and is tough as nails. He has great ball handling skills, control and poise. He has the personality that is required in leaders and even at a yound age he was willing (and able) to direct veterans on what to do. J.J. can drive to the basket strong both left and right and looks to get the lay up. While in traffic he has the ability to find the open man for the assist. The oposing team cannot leave him open on the perimeter because he shoots threes with the best of them. J.J. is big and strong enough to play the 2 guard position which he proved quite often during the 2004/05 season. His very best asset may be his well rounded defensive skills with which he can guard both the opposing point- and shooting-guard. Relentlessly he can hound an oposing PG full court not giving him air to breath or room to pass.
J.J. came to Cologne during the 2001/02 season and worked a year under Svetislav Pesic. He played a major role in the German U18 and U20 national teams and now plays for the German A2 team. During the 2004/05 season he has gotten substantial playing time and has taken a huge developmental leap. He was instrumental in Cologne's cup win during the Top Four tournament being the best player on the court in the semi-final and leading the way again in the final.
