NBA draft

Played for BC Shooters and Ricoh/Amsterdam before moving to the U.S. in 2.000. Decided to go to George Mason U. (Fairfax, VA) over Utah U. and Clemson. Natural point guard with great size for his position. Because of that, he can play at the shooting guard position as well and even small forward at times. His future is at the back court positions tough. Extremely versatile player! Excellent ballhandler who distributes the ball well. Good interior passer with a very good feeling for the game. Causes problems for opponents at both ends of the court with his size and quickness. Outstanding decisionmaker. Positions well in defense. Improved a lot at the defense end, playing smaller and quicker opponents in college basketball. Played out of position his senior year at George Mason because Head Coach Jim Larranaga decided to play with two realtively small guards (Terry Reynolds and Lamar Butler) and Raoul. He did start all games in his last season for the Patriots. Sacrificed himself for the team to play out of position, strictly at the wing while his natural position is at the PG-position and SG-position (at times). Plays very economic and doesn't make many mistakes on the floor. Nice free throw shooter and a much better 3-point shooter than his stats are showing. Good rebounder for his position but has room left to improve even in that aspect. Because of his different role this past season, his stats dropped from the year before, averaging 11,0ppg in his junior year. Became a defensive stopper in certain games this year which will help him playing overseas. Has good strenth and quickness. Good leaper and active player! Very coachable player who has upside left to play at the highest level in Europe. George Mason was 23 and 10 this season, lost in the Conference final (CAA) vs V.C.U. and qualified for the N.I.T. in which they beat Tennessee and Austin Peay at home before losing on the road at Oregon. Son of Gretha and Cor Heinen. Both Raoul's sisters are playing Division One in the Netherlands for Shooters. Raoul is a (part-time) starting back court player of the Dutch National Team. ULEB Cup stats 2007-2008: 10 games; 17,7 mpg: 4,0 ppg (12/21 2-pts, 3/17 3-pts, 7/8 FT), 2,3 rpg, 0,5 apg, 0,6 stpg and 1,3 topg
