| Boakai Lalugba is a complete Power Forward. He has a big body, bigger then his height might tell you. An extreme athlete who jumps out of the gym, for thunderous dunks, highflying dunks and gets up very high on rebounds. After his college career, he spent one year in Sweden and then moved on to Finland. Having been considered mainly a paint scorer, as Lalugba earlier lacked any range at all at his shot, he has now developed his shooting skills, and is now a consistent threat from mid-range, and also from threepointland. This makes him a very strong scorer, and with his strenght he is extremly hard to stop in the post, where he can back down most of his opponents. Lalugbas skills and strong sides as a basketball player doesnt stop with his scoring skills though. He's a smart player, with a good passinggame and a good eye for the open man. A terrific rebounder, especially on the offensiv end. Defensivly he has no problem guarding bigger players, because of his strenght and athletic skills, and he's also a player who opposing guards will not want to drive against when he's under the basket, because of his good shotblocking skills. A true hard worker who will bring alot to any team in any situation. Had very succesfull years all of his first three years in Europe, especially during the 2005-2006 season in Finland where he was named to Player of the Year, Center of the Year, All-League First Team, All-League Imports team by Eurobasket.com's finnish section, as well as beeing named the MVP of the Finnish league the same year. Played in the All-Star Game in the Swedish League during the 06-07 season, and (togheter with Andrew Mitchell and Jerome Coleman) got the most votes from the coaches in the league to participate in Team Global. His parents were born in Liberia, and because of that Boakai received his Liberian citizenship and passport in 2007, giving him Cotonou-status as well. |
