Wakayama Trians

The Wakayama Trians are in dire financial straits and have announced that they will not complete the 2014/15 season and are withdrawing from the Japanese NBL. The Trians had a 4-17 record before leaving the league. They ended the 2013/14 season as the Japanese NBL Western Division champions and got far into the post-season as one of the league’s finalists, losing to the Toshiba Brave Thunders.

The team’s management provided this official statement.

We, the Wakayama Trians, have made efforts to respond to the enthusiastic support of everybody. But we have run out of ways to improve our situation and we can no longer run the team, so we have stopped our team activities as of Jan. 7.
