Round 26 of the 2016/2016 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season is underway. There were four games on Thursday, with another four to wrap the round on Friday. Real Madrid was toppled on the road by Panathinaikos Athens to open top spot. Anadolu Efes Istanbul took out Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv in Turkey, while city rival Fenerbahce Istanbul travelled to Bamberg and left with a win. Lastly, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade eased past Milan away from home.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, 92-87

Anadolu Efes Istanbul ended hopes of Tel Aviv winning two consecutive games with a solid home victory over the former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champ. The Turkish club moves to 14-12 on the back of the win and remains in the hunt in the top half. Maccabi Tel Aviv continued to toil through the season and now holds 9-17 record. Both teams will look on the third quarter as defining, with Anadolu Efes claiming a 25-15 run to move ahead for good. Jayson Granger led the win with 22 points, with Bryant Dunston getting a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Panathinaikos Athens vs. Real Madrid, 88-82

 

Real Madrid opened the door to CSKA Moscow at the top of the standings and the Spanish giant could drop to second place after this loss. Of course, this is clash between two historic juggernauts and former EuroLeague champs. Panathinaikos showed it is still a title contender with a big home win that moves it to 15-11 in fifth place. The Greens were pushed all the way by Real Madrid and through thirty minutes it was tied 58-58. An edgy finish saw Panathinaikos stay cool down the stretch.

Brose Bamberg vs. Fenerbahce Istanbul, 78-83

Fenerbahce cruised to a road victory over an inconsistent Brose Bamberg. The Turkish champs looked comfortable for long periods and moves to 17-9 in sole possession of fourth place. As for Bamberg, the German title holders are down near the bottom on 9-17. After draining 27 first quarter points, Fenerbahce eased through the game. However, the hosts made it interesting with a spirited fourth act effort. Bobby Dixon shone in the win with 26 points.

EA7 Emporio Armani Milan vs. Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, 71-78

Crvena Zvezda’s amazing form continued on Thursday with a big road win over Milan. With each passing week it is becoming apparent the Serbian champs are real contenders, moving to 15-11 in joint fifth. As for Milan, the Italian title winners are struggling down low with a 7-19 showing at the foot of the league. The visitors claimed a 10-25 first act and rarely looked back, holding a double-digit advantage for long spells.
