Sacramento Kings win Vegas Summer League

Sacramento Kings

NBA – The Sacramento Kings capped off the 2014 Las Vegas Summer League in style by defeating the Houston Rockets 77-68 to win the tournament. They were led by game-MVP Ray McCallum who finished with 29 points and nine rebounds. Ra’shad James scored 12 points, while Nik Stauskas added 10. Houston was led by Nick Johnson who had 17 points. Donatas Montiejunas chipped in 16 points and six rebounds.

The Kings lost only one game in the tournament, their first game, against the San Antonio Spurs. Since then, they found their groove and blazed through their remaining opponents.

While the even itself does not have any bearing on the upcoming 2014-15 season, it was a great opportunity for some the league’s young players to get their feet wet and show off what they are capable of doing. Washington Wizards’ Glen Rice Jr. was unanimously named the NBA Summer League’s MVP. He averaged 25 ppg, 7.8 rpg and 2.5 spg.
