Renaldo Balkman to Venezuela

After a tumultuous stint in the Philippines playing for the Petron Blaze, Renaldo Balkman (201 cm, South Carolina’05) found a fresh start when he was drafted by Brujos de Guayama from Puerto Rico’s BSN. But even before playing a game for Guayama, it has been announced that the Puerto Rican-American Balkman will be joining Guaiqueries de Margarita from Venezuela’s LPB.

Balkman was fined and banned from the Philippines’ PBA after he attempted to choke his own teammate. His banning from the league was a controversial decision as some quarters thought that it was too harsh compared to rulings executed in the past. In seven games playing for Petron Blaze, Balkman averaged 25.0 ppg and 13.4 rpg.
