Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño become champions

Cerro Porteño (from Paraguay) out gunned Libertad 75 to 70 and became Champion of Paraguay after the fifth exhausting game of the play off series. This is not just any championship. Libertad has held the title for some 50 years but has finally been dethroned by Cerro, the new kings of Paraguayan basketball.

It was a tough and winding road for Cerro who overcame many difficulties and experienced competitors as they happen to have the smallest team in the division. They feel very proud of themselves for accomplishing all that they have this season.

The high scorer for Cerro was James Penny who shot a total of 30 points. Libertad’s best shooter was Daniel Perez with 18 points.

Cerro Porteño obviously is happy with its performance and it is already thinking about next year and what they need to do to stay on top.
