Omar-Sharif Cook joins Panathinaikos

Omar-Sharif Cook Panathinaikos Athens (Greece-A1) is getting an infusion of veteran blood for the 2016-17 season with the addition of Omar-Sharif Cook (186 cm, St. John’s’01). Cook is a 34-year-old American player who also holds a Montenegrin passport. He was a former member of the Montenegrin national team from 2008 to 2012. Omar-Sharif heads to the Greek powerhouse after starting 2016-17 with Movistar Estudiantes (Spain-Liga Endesa). He played three games for them before his departure and averaged 5.7 ppg and 4.3 apg.

Cook played for KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica (Montenegro-Erste Liga) in 2015-16. In 28 games in the Adriatic league he posted averages of 8.3 ppg and 6.5 apg. Omar-Sharif also logged 10 games in the Eurocup and there he averaged 8.3 ppg and 7.0 apg.
