| Benvenuto David: Chiotti to Italy, signs in LegaDue

.. (U. of New Mexico, ’06), a 206 cm PF, has agreed to terms for the coming seasons with a 2-year contract with Fastweb Junior Casale Monferrato of the prestigious Lega Due in Italy. Chiotti, who was injured coming off his collegiate career in New Mexico (he was a 3-year starter in Albuquerque, averaging double-figures for three seasons), started his pro career (after recovering from a broken wrist) in mid-season 2006-07 at St. Polten in Austia. David put up numbers in Austria, averaging 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds. From Austria, he moved on to Holland where Chiotti has been one of the best power forwards in the Dutch league, starring at Zorg & Zekerheid Leiden for the past two seasons. He averaged 15.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in 2007-08. This past season, Chiotti scored 14.9 points and 9.3 boards, while also improving his 3-point percentage to a career-high 38.9%. The 25-year old Chiotti, who received his Italian passport this summer, now moves on to Casale Monferrato, where he will strive to help head coach Marco Crespi, take Fastweb Junior Casale to the next level (Lega A).
