NCAA Finals Set, Villanova vs. UNC

NCAA Finals The NCAA Finals match-up is set. Two teams, two schools, one dream, one big game… Two huge blowouts in the Final Four produced our two finalists. Villanova set a record for the biggest blowout win in Final Four history with their 95-51 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. It was an epic game for the Villanova Wildcats. They shot the lights out of Oklahoma, shooting 71.4% from the field, with their offensive flow hitting a critical mass and could not be contained. Another key factor in the game was the off-night that Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield had. The Bahamian guard was averaging 25.4 points per game coming into this Final Four match, but the Naismith Player-of-the-Year awardee was limited to scoring just nine points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field. The defensive pressure Villanova sent his way was unrelenting and Hield could not get his game in gear to lift up his team.

As expected, Josh Hart played a pivotal role in Villanova’s success. He led his with a game-high 23 points on some very assertive basketball. He attacked the basket and was able to convert on several uncontested shots.

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels penned an abrupt ending to Syracuse’s NCAA Tournament Cinderella story. Syracuse was hoping to be the first double-digit seed to reach the finals, but the boys in white and blue managed to dictate the pace of the game and were easily in-charge for most of the contest.

The teams were very familiar with each other, both coming from the Atlantic Coast Conference. UNC’s depth was just too much for Syracuse to handle. Their stable of talent combined with their consistency on the floor was what allowed them to outpace Syracuse. Justin Jackson and Brice Johnson led UNC with 16 points apiece.

Which team will bring home the gold? Will Villanova be able to ride their current momentum or will East region Champs, UNC take home another title?
