FC Barcelona Edges Zenit 63-61

FC Barcelona FC Barcelona Lassa (Spain-Liga Endesa) and fellow Euroleague competitor, Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia-VTB) locked horns in some preseason action recently. The Spanish powerhouse would lean on its three-point shooting late in this low-scoring game to hold on to their slim lead and dispatch Zenit, 63-61.

Ante Tomic would step up his game just when Barca needed him most. He would provide four crucial points in the dying minutes of regulation to secure the lead. Tomic would finish the game with 15 points to lead all Barcelona scorers for the night.

Both teams came out with some tough defensive-minded play early on, and the result would be the low scores on the board. However, as the game progressed it was evident that the players were getting tired and were not in mid-season form just yet. Scoring opened up in the last quarter and it was then that Barca was able to capitalize and use their outside touch to gain an advantage.

Janis Timma paced Zenit with a game-high 16 points and Ryan Toolson added 14 of his own.

Overall the friendly exhibition game went smoothly and expect both benches to make some adjustments as they prepare for the upcoming season.
