EA7 Armani EA7 Armani claimed the 2016 Italian Serie A championship after defeating Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia 70-74 in Game 6 of their Finals series. This is a fitting culmination of what has been an amazing season for the Milanese franchise. They finished atop of the standings at the end of the regular season with their impressive 22-8 record. EA7 Armani also won the Italian Cup and were finalists in the Italian Supercup this 2016.

The game was a well-fought, tightly contested race; but it was EA7 Armani that found the path to victory with their superior ball movement. The red shirts ended the night with 21 assists, compared to their host’s 15. The guests took an early advantage with a 19-21 lead at the end of the first quarter, but their hosts fired back in a dominant second frame with their 19-8 push.

After the break, facing a daunting lead, EA7 Armani came out with their guns blazing and slowly culled Grissin Bon’s advantage. Grissin Bon held on to a five-point lead as both clubs entered the fourth and final frame. Armani continued with its strong team effort and rode their momentum to victory.

Alessandro Gentile led three other Armani players in double figures with his 16 points. Krunoslav Simon stepped up off the bench with 15 points and seven rebounds for the champs. Grissin Bon’s Rimantas Kaukenas led all scorers with his 18 points, but sadly his heroics were not enough to match his guests’ overall effort.

It was a sweet return to the podium for EA7 Armani. The last time they raised the gold above their heads was in 2014.
