Buducnost dominates Cedevita in Adriatic clash

Buducnost

Montenegrin powerhouse KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica made a huge statement in the Adriatic League with a dominant 57-81 win over KK Cedevita Zagreb. The game between these two teams was arguably the most important, must-watch contest of Round 19 of the regular season. Buducnost and Cedevita hold the number one and number two spots in the league standings respectively, and this could have very well have been a potential Finals preview right here.

The game itself got out of hand for the home team quite quickly, much to the disappointment of the fans in attendance in Zagreb. Buducnost was clearly the better prepared team and it was evident in their defense, forcing a dismal 31% shooting from the field out of their hosts. By the end of the first quarter the blue shirts established a commanding 10-28 advantage.

Cedevita’s situation turned from bad to worse in the second frame. They could not buy a bucket in the quarter and were limited to just eight points. At the end of the first half, Cedevita found themselves in a tragic quagmire, down 18-50!

A huge factor in this game was Buducnost’s Tadija Dragicevic, who destroyed Cedevita with his game-high 23 points and six rebounds. He could not be contained as he finished with an efficient game, shooting a blistering 63.6% from the field and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

The lead was too much for Cedevita to climb back from. Despite some moments in the second half, Buducnost was not in any real danger of losing control of the ball game.

What does this mean exactly? Buducnost has crushed its closest rival in the standings and has not shown any signs of slowing down. They are clearly the team to beat this season and will tough to take down come the Playoffs. That said, the Adriatic league teams have been known to pull off some surprising upsets in the past, so they should always bring their A-game every night.
