Weert will miss Kenneth van Kempen for the rest of the season

Kenneth van Kempen won’t play for Dutch team Stepco Weert due to a nagging knee injury. It is even doubtful whether the young center ever comes into action in the Dutch Basketball League again.

Van Kempen has too much pain in his knee to play, which is caused by a problem with the cartilage. Studies that will follow in the coming weeks will reveal whether Kenneth will ever play basketball at the highest level or not. Besides the personal suffering for van Kempen, it is also a great loss for the team of Weert where Niels Vorenhout already had to withdraw recently as well with a career ending back injury.

Van Kempen played four years for Ohio University in the Mid American Conference and then came back to his old club. Last season, the always hardworking van Kempen had an excellent season and this season he would therefore be one of corner stones of Stepco BSW.

WOW! That’s a big blow for Weert, missing their starting center after losing captain Niels Vorenhout earlier on as well for his career. Incredible that they will miss 2 players like this for this 2012-’13 season.
