Simone Pianigiani steps down, Erdogan to take over

Simone Pianigiani

Simone Pianigiani is no longer the head coach of Fenerbahce. The experienced Italian decided to leave the team because of personal reasons. He announced his decision via the official team site. Simone Pianigiani joined Fenerbahce at the start of the 2012-13 season and signed a two year contract with the Turkish powerhouse. He had some success in that he led the team to the Turkish Cup title but also performed somewhat disappointingly in Euroleague play.

The six seasons before this one Simone Pianigiani was the head coach of Montepaschi Siena.

Ertugrul Erdogan will replace Pianigiani. Erdogan has worked as assistant coach for Fenerbahce for the past nine years and was also the assistant coach for the Turkish National Team in 2010.
